ORLEANS – Everett D. Kiefer, Jr., 81, of Orleans, MA died October 06, 2015.
He was born in Boston and raised in West Newton, MA and was the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Everett D. Kiefer. He graduated from Noble & Greenough School (Class of 1952), Harvard University (Class of 1956), and Boston University School of Law (Class of 1963).
Everett served in the U.S. 8th Army in Korea. He was a member of the Orleans Conservation Commission for 9 years in the 1970’s. He practiced law in Chatham from 1964 to 1990. After he retired from the law practice, he worked for the Association to Preserve Cape Cod from 1993 to 2011. He enjoyed tennis, fishing, and traveling, and was a member of various environmental organizations. He was also a former member of the Cape Cod Old Timers Softball League.
He is survived by his daughters; Nicole Kiefer of Raleigh, NC, Jennifer Thomas of Crofton, MD, Karen Wilson of Chattanooga, TN and sisters, Joan Maschkan of Baden bei Wien, Austria, Ann Battarel of Plévenon-Fréhel, France, and Lynne Hartell of Chatham, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the Association to Preserve Cape Cod (APCC).
A memorial service will be held on the beach at Rock Harbor at 2 p.m. on Monday October 12, 2015, with a reception to follow
