Evelyn A. Mullen

Evelyn A. Mullen, 96, died Monday, December 11, 2023 at Cape Cod Hospital. She was born in Andover, Massachusetts on June 23, 1927 to the late Benjamin L. and Stephanie (Smith) Locke. Evelyn attended Andover public schools and was the salutatorian of her Punchard High class of 1944. She was employed for over 35 years in the travel department of Aetna Insurance at their corporate headquarters in Hartford, Connecticut, retiring as the department manager. Evelyn was a wonderful baker and crafter, making many needlepoint and knitted pieces.

She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Commander Joseph Mullen. Together, Evelyn and Joe enjoyed their time living on the Cape, fishing and boating in the bay, their cherished dogs, and traveling to functions around the USA with Joe’s WWII Army veterans. Though deeply shaken by the loss of her loving husband a decade ago she would just say,"This old girl isn't doing too badly on her own. Can't say I have much to complain about." Evelyn leaves many dearly loved, and loving, nieces and nephews including Kimberly A. Fantini and her husband David of Westford, Linda M. (Locke) Rocke and her husband Robert of Windham, NH, Jeffrey A. Locke and his wife Barbara of Brookfield, NH, Daniel Innes and his wife Kristina of Norton, MA, Douglas Innes of San Francisco, CA., and Andrew Innes and his wife Jo-Ann Castano of Gloucester MA,

Funeral direction is by Nickerson Funeral Home in Orleans, MA. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 22 at St. Joan of Arc Church, Orleans MA at 11 AM and a reception to follow.
