Elizabeth Dunham

Elizabeth Knowles Dunham, 82, of Orleans passed away peacefully on Monday, November 21, 2011 at McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Earl (Whitey) Dunham. She was a special lady who always had a joke to tell and she was proud to be a native Cape Codder. Born and raised in Brewster, Betty attended elementary school in Hyannis, and graduated in 1947 from Orleans High School. She worked for many years as the manager of the Orleans Bowling Center. From 1985-1995, Betty was a real estate broker for Peno Real Estate in Orleans. Betty was a master woodcarver and enjoyed bird watching, Nauset Beach, crossword puzzles, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty is survived by two daughters, Kathy Perreault of Orleans and Judith Crystaloski of Brewster; and one son, Noel Dunham of Nashua, NH. Grandchildren include Lillian Meehan and Hilary Young of Orleans, and Michael Dunham and David Dunham of Nashua, NH. Great-grandchildren are Dylan Fox, Katie Hoffman and Riley Meehan all of Orleans.

Visiting hours will be 2-4pm, Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Nickerson Funeral Home on Eldredge Parkway in Orleans. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s name may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cape Cod, McCarthy Care Center, 73 Service Road, East Sandwich, MA 02537.
