Earl Edwin Caudill was a man who was excited, proud and devoted to every moment and embraced every phase of his long life. His 95 years brought him many friends and family, who he doted on and relished daily. If you asked anyone to tell you about Earl, almost always “charming” and “interesting” were mentioned. He was the most positive person day in and day out.
It is with great sadness that we share his passing on March 20 2025 at his home in Brewster Massachusetts, surrounded by loving family.
Earl was born at home in West Van Lear, Kentucky to parents Clare Mae Russell Caudill and Fred Caudill. The family were proud Kentuckians, also living in Paintsville, Kentucky before moving to Huntington, West Virginia. Earl attended the University of Kentucky where he met his wife Catherine Cure, and his love of both her and UK basketball began.
Right out of college Earl served in the Air Force in Korea. He came home to begin his career with JC Penny and to start his family. Earl and Cathy enjoyed raising their three children, Dan, Jill and Sarah all throughout the Midwest during his long career, until he retired in 1989, when they settled to Brewster, Massachusetts and Cape Cod life.
Always a giver, Earl and Cathy enjoyed volunteering for many organizations around the Cape and providing genuine encouragement to all whose path they crossed. He loved working on the town of Brewster’s finance committee, Lower Cape Outreach Council, he served as president of Blinded Veterans of Cape Cod for several years and wherever needed at Brewster Baptist Church.
He is survived by his brother Gene Caudill and wife Dolly, son Dan Caudill and wife Nancy, daughters Jill Caudill and Sarah Ramey, brother-in-law Bill Cure and his wife Jennifer, his five grandchildren Jeffrey, Steve, and Mark Caudill and Jessica and Jason Ramey along with his seven great grandchildren and may beloved nieces and nephews.
His adored wife Catherine Cure Caudill, who passed in 2000 after 48 years of marriage, his brother Leroy Caudill and his son-in-law Jack Ramey, preceded him to heaven.
His family will miss him dearly yet find hope and joy in the many memories we share.
A memorial service will be held at Brewster Baptist Church, 1848 Main Street, Brewster, MA, 02631 at 2:00 p.m. EST Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025.
We look forward to sharing this celebration with all who knew him.
