Carol is an alumna of the Katherine Gibbs School, New York and attended the New York School of Interior Design. She was employed by F. Schumacher & Co., New York. She enjoyed the entertainment and social activities New York City offered and there she met her husband, Philip T. Scola of Montclair NJ at a ski club party. They were wed August 6, 1960 in Shrewsbury N.J. Together they raised a family while she continued to pursue her varied interests of sewing, playing bridge, camping, skiing, bowling, and cooking to name a few. Carol’s interest in cooking led her to co-manage the food co-op in Bedford, MA and found gourmet clubs in each of the places the family called home. Carol and her husband Phil moved after retirement to Orleans in 1993. Together they travelled world wide and she volunteered numerous hours as the Treasurer for the Cape Cod Hospital Auxiliary Orleans Branch.
The most important to Carol was family. She will be missed by her children Craig Scola and wife Deborah of Anchorage, AK, Todd Scola and wife Jennifer of Orleans, MA, and Catherine Antonio and husband Michael of Orleans, MA as well as 6 prized grandchildren. Carol was preceded in death by her husband Philip, her brother Bruce, and her parents.
Carol will be interned with her husband at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. All arrangements are private. In lieu of flowers, Carol’s loved ones encourage you to instead make a donation to the Cape Cod Hospital Auxiliary in Carol’s memory. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.nickersonfunerals.com.
