CHATHAM - Bruce A. Jamieson, formerly of Orleans, died peacefully. surrounded by loved ones, at Liberty Commons on August 16, 2011 . Liberty had been his home since early 2008.
Bruce was born February 4, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York. He grew up in Westchester County until he moved to Orleans in 1952. His father, Edward M. Jamieson, who worked for the French Cable, was born in Nova Scotia. His mother Doris (Fulcher) Jamieson was a native Cape Codder.
In 1955 Mr. Jamieson volunteered to serve in the United States Army and was stationed at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.
A loving husband and father Bruce touched many lives with his unquenchable spirit and interest in others. He survived a stroke in July 2000, lost his speech and was physically challenged until his death. In spite of this, he reached out and communicated to many people in a variety of ways.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ronnie L. (Munsey) Jamieson of Orleans, daughter, Lori L.(Jamieson) Gimblett of Brewster, two sons, Gardner E. Jamieson of Brewster with his wife Pamela Jo (Johnson) Jamieson. Randall K. Jamieson of Harwich with his wife Tara L. (Kilawee) Jamieson of Harwich. Mr. Jamieson was predeceased by a son Bruce M. Jamieson, Sr. in 2009.
His grandsons are; Bruce M. Jamieson, Jr. and his fiancee Nichole Jeschke. Craig A. Jamieson, Tyler J. Jamieson, Kyle M. Jamieson Derek R. Jamieson, Brandon K. Jamieson, Logan P. Jamieson, Christopher D. Jamieson, Dominic R. Jamieson and step-grandson David Gimblett, Jr., Granddaughters are Ashley M. (Jamieson) Cole, Tian Xin Lee Jamieson, step-granddaughter Danielle (Gimblett) Joseph and husband Jesse Joseph.
Great-grandchildren are Jonus M. Jamieson, Amani O. Cole, Peter Gimblett, Ava Joseph and Molly Joseph
Surviving siblings are Anita L (Jamieson) Walsh with her husband Donald Walsh of Orleans and Anna Barrett of Austin Texas. He was predeceased by sister Audrey (Jamieson) Barnard and brother Edward M. Jamieson, Jr. His two sister-in-laws Christie (Munsey) Turner of Chatham and Jean (Munsey) LaCroix of Ft. Meyers, Florida.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Bruce formerly owned and operated the old Hopkins Cleaners in Orleans. In retirement he worked for Mid Cape Center as hardware supervisor in Dennis for 14 years.
He loved his morning paper, eating out, his Liberty Commons coffee Klatch and resident friends, the caring staff and any sport NOT Boston!
Bruce attended Cape Cod Bible Alliance Church and ushered for many years.
Visiting hours will be held Monday morning, August 22, 2011 beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Cape Cod Bible Alliance Church 3600 Main Street Brewster, immediately following will be a service of celebration of his life at the church at 11:00 a.m.
A private burial will be held at a later date .
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bruce’s name to: The Arden Schofield Music Fund, c/o Broadreach Health Care Liberty Commons, 390 Orleans Rd., No. Chatham, MA 02633 Bruce enjoyed a rich friendship with Arden who, during his life, ministered to Bruce and many others with his music, stories and keen human insight.
