Brenda M. Jensen, age 83 of Orleans, MA died in hospice on Friday, March 24th at McCarthy Care Center after a prolonged three-year battle against Colon cancer. Her two daughters Sherril and Susan, and her son John were with her as she departed this world for the next.
We are sure that she is excited about this new adventure! Mom’s zest to savor all that life could offer is attested to by her record of over three dozen addresses that traversed the country. Boxes and albums full of travel memorabilia, photos, and brochures suggested that she had no intention of stopping anytime soon. Mom wanted to experience all the beauty of creation including the wildlife that inhabited it. She was a protector and defender of animals and wouldn’t even harm a spider.
Part of Brenda’s passion for travel was inspired by her foodie nature. Move over millennials, Brenda has you beat on this one! In fact, mom inhaled all that culture could offer: art, poetry, music, and most of all people. Everyone who knew Brenda would exclaim, “She’s so full of life!” and that was even during her illness. They’d ask, “How do you do it Brenda?”
Brenda’s path led her in and out of several marriages, of which she always remembered the positive moments. Brenda’s optimism and people skills equipped her well to serve as an award-winning apartment manager for several complexes in Connecticut and Texas including a 100 unit establishment in Austin.
Creativity was a key component of Brenda. Having graduated with artistic recognition from New London High School, Connecticut in 1957 – she was a classically trained pianist, painter, fashion designer, and occasionally wrote poetry.
But of all her loves, the ocean might have been the greatest. Mom grew up on the coast of Connecticut spending many hours at the beach and boating on the water. Eventually, the ocean harkened her to return – bringing Brenda to Cape Cod about a dozen years ago. It’s a decision that was just right!
And now, Brenda (aka Mom, sister to Suzette, friend to many) is splashing in waves upon the heavenly shore, probably managing all of God’s many mansions/rooms, and trying on some new recipes. May you rest in peace and rise in glory.
A private memorial for immediate family will take place later this spring.
