Mr. Kroll passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at age 76 in Orleans, Mass. He graduated from Dartmouth College and Harvard Law School, and served as an officer in the U.S. Army (Artillery). After his military service, he worked as a senior investment banker involved in many domestic and foreign mergers and financings at Lehman Brothers, L.F. Rothschild Unterberg Towbin, Wertheim Schroder and Burnham & Company. He also served on numerous public and private corporate boards of directors including being a founding board member of America West Airlines, now U.S. Airways, subsequent to its acquisition of the latter airline. Mr. Kroll lived and worked in New York City and served as a trustee of the Lexington School for the Deaf and the Hewitt School, as well as on the board of the Child Care Action Campaign. Since retirement, Mr. Kroll lived on Amelia Island, Florida and spent the summers on Cape Cod. During his time in Florida, he served on the board of the Nassau County (FL) Volunteer Center, as a mentor for Take Stock in Children, and on the Steering Committee of Cummelia. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 46 years, Lois, as well as his daughters, Alison Hessert, Luisa Pelosi and Heather Bailey, and his granddaughters, Montana, Gabriella, Lela and Cassandra. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Arn’s name to the MDS Foundation, Nassau County (FL) Volunteer Center or Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. A memorial service will be held at the Ocean Club on Amelia Island Plantation in Florida on Saturday, October 15. A second service will be held at the University Club in New York City on Friday, December 16.
