Ann Mitchell Peters, age 77, of Eastham and formerly of Orleans, passed away on Sunday, April 30, after a short illness. She was born in Wakefield, MA, daughter of the late Ralph Waldo and Ethel (Riley) Mitchell and was a 1964 graduate of St. Mary’s Girls High School in Lynn. She spent her teenage years living in Nahant but lived on Cape Cod for the last 50 plus years. Until recent years, she worked as a hair stylist at the salon she owned and managed, Coastal Cuts in Orleans. She was proud to be a woman owner of a Cape Cod local business.
Ann enjoyed the peace and solitude of the Cape. She loved estate sales, a nice Chardonnay or maybe a martini, a fabulous trip, all kinds of dogs (especially rescue), and a really nice dinner out. She was an accomplished cook and baker, having made Aunt Betty’s famous chocolate cake numerous times over the years.
Ann was loved by an extended family including members of the Caira, Irrig, Zeitz, Lehman, McAllister, and Peters families. She cherished her loyal group of friends who stood with her through good times and bad. We will always remember Ann’s kindness, her sense of humor and her terrific and very loud laugh.
Ann’s family wishes to express our sincere appreciation to Ann’s dear friend Judy for the care she provided Ann during her recent illness.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park way, Orleans, MA 02653. Calling hours will be on Saturday June 17th from 2PM to 4PM. A private burial service for family and close friends will take place at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Nahant, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Ann to MSPCA-Angell Cape Cod Adoption Center, 1577 Falmouth Rd., Centerville, MA 02632.
