Virginia Joyce Pennington

VIRGINIA “JOYCE” PENNINGTON,, 73, of Orlando, passed away Friday, January 6, 2012. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Charles Pennington; son, Greg Pennington; daughters and sons-in-law, Gaye and Michael Johnson and Carol and Greg Schon; five grandchildren; eight nieces and nephews; and sister, Peggy Thurman. She was predeceased by her brother, Allen Johnson. Joyce was born in Lexington, KY, June 24, 1938. She studied Bacteriology at the University of Kentucky. In 1959, she married Charles and moved to Orlando. She worked for Orange County Schools for 15 years. Her passions were her children and grandchildren, music, travel and reading. Family will receive friends on Friday, January 13, 6-8pm, at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home. A memorial service and reception will be held at First United Methodist Church of Orlando, where Joyce was a member, on Saturday, January 14, at 10am.
