In 1970, with his loving wife, Marie Odette Galette by his side, Sani migrated from Haiti to the United States. After settling into the states, Sani found employment at Glenshaw Glass, and would later find his career at Northern Manor Nursing, where he gained a host of life-long friends before his retirement.
During his years, Sani had a strong love of his faith, and he was very active amongst his church family. He was a long-time member at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Spring Valley, New York. After moving to Florida, he then became a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Sani was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, Godfather, and friend. One of the things he enjoyed the most was being surrounded by his family and friends. During family events, you could expect to find Sani somewhere with a video recorder, his infectious smile, and his signature stance.
He was also well known for his willfulness to help the people he loved. After he moved to the United States, he helped several family members migrate from Haiti by welcoming them into his home as their place to stay. He was a man who never hesitated to be a phone call away for anyone in need.
Sani leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 50+ years, Marie Odette Galette; their children, Jean Phillips Galette (Yolette Galette), Evelyn St. Brice, John R. Galette (Claudette Galette), Berline Harris, and Patricia Galette. Grandchildren: Carline St. Brice, Cindy St. Brice, Shanisa Galette Cole (Julian Cole), Melinda Galette, Nakisha Galette, Cadi Rine, Sidney St. Brice, Christopher Harris, Jamal Galette, Adanya Harris, Alexys Galette, Victoria Galette, and Jonathan Galette. Great-grandchildren: Camrin Young, Zyen Cole, Kaiden Balmir, Damari Rine, Noah Cole, Xzavier Reese, Layla Rine, Kayson Reese, and Sanai Cole. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Sani is preceded in death by son, Windsor Galette; and siblings, Almaus Galette, Saul Galette, Joseph Galette, Jean Mozart Galette, Clerina Galette, Gracia Galette, Remonite Galette, Jeanna Galette, Rosita Galette, and Nelia Galette.
While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Sanius is now resting with the Lord.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:4
