Aeronautical Engineering from Penn State University 1952; Air war College Diploma 1979; Military Service: USAF Reserves 1952-1986; 1952-56 Active duty USAF; Korea, Lt.., F-86 Sabre Fighter Pilot, American Defense, United Nations & Korean Medals; 1962-2010 USAF Reserves USAF Academy Liaison Officer, AF Commendation Medal, Outstanding DLOC NE Area Award & 40 year Tallman Pin; 1975-1981 USAF Reserves ASD, Wright-Patterson AFB, F-16 Program Office, AF Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and Meritorious Service Medal; 1981-1986 USAF Reserves 6940th ESW (National Security Agency) AF Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. Other awards; AF 2002 Lifetime Achievement Award, Colonel Porter retired from the USAF Reserves on 1 March 1986 after 34 years of Commissioned Service to the Country he loved. Colonel Samuel R. Porter Sr. is survived by his loving wife of 50 years of marriage; Lois Lee Porter. Son Samuel R. Porter Jr., (Melissa) and Grandson Samuel R. Porter III Son Edward P. Porter (Sandra) Grandson Chase E. Porter Also survived by Brother Dr. William C. Porter (Patricia) of Huntington, Long Island, N.Y. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 17 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home, 2811 Curry Ford Rd., Orlando.
