Durante estos días he estado pendiente de la llegada del día de hoy, recordando a mi querido amigo y hermano Rolando quien partió al encuentro con Dios hace 1 año. Te envío Rolando mis sentimientos, cariño y admiración por lo maravilloso que fue gozar de tu amistad, compartir la música y beber una chinita mientras conversábamos. Greetings to my dear friend Wanda Díaz and her family. During these days I have been aware of today's arrival, remembering my dear friend and brother Rolando who left to meet God 1 year ago. I send you Rolando my feelings, affection and admiration for how wonderful it was to enjoy your friendship, share the music and drink a little girl while we talked. To the Diaz Family, I remember LT Diaz. He was a polished and fun loving Officer. As I remember he was a C2 Driver that was always mission ready.
He wore a big imbedded smile on his face, our actions were alway professional as I was a enlisted man but worked in Operations close to him what a sense of humor.
I alway wondered where in the world he landed after the Navy. He left a favorable impression on many during his Earthly  time, sorry for your lost.
Airline Capt Diaz is flying God’s missions now. We can feel safe because he’s a Navy pilot in good standing in heavens. ADC ret Mel Clay, aircrewmen

Gandhi you were an absolute pleasure to work with and you will be so greatly missed. Every trip together was fun and exciting because that’s what you brought to this world every day. I was so disappointed to go into the  CPO in Atlanta and see your picture up. I thought it was for your retirement and that made me sad because I had swapped equipment and knew I wouldn’t get one more trip with great stories.  Then when I read the notice it broke my heart. You always talked so highly about your family and with such passion, so to all of them, you have my deepest condolences. You will be missed by so many. God just added a fun one to heaven.

Rolando always put a smile on my face. We served together in Air Wing EIGHT during the mid-80s, and later crossed paths at Delta Air Lines. His infectious personality is one you always remember. Very sorry for your loss. RIP Shipmate. Chris “Tree” Sadler

I will always remember watching you, Robert and Tito going down that homemade gocart you made with roller skating wheels down the street in La Melendez, and God forbid the small rockets you made from scratch and shot up the air a thousand times. But most of all ...I will always remember how you and Wanda were always there for me and Jessie. Best cousin ever! Love you ❤️

To my beloved Tio Roly! Today it’s a very sad day for all of the people who ones knew you. Your lost has been a very hard one because it was unexpected. Tio was a fun, extravagant, intelligent and honest. He will tell you straight up what was on his mind with out hesitation but he was also the pacifier of the family and love unity. I will  always remember when he  came to visit us     in Puerto Rico you make sure that we have  quality time as a family. You always come to   moms house at tell a lot of story’s. I will always remember when you call my dog 
spooky or dragon breath. We had a lot of 
memories together. What hurts the  most 
 of is that we didn’t get to see each other in 
a long time. So my last memory was in 
grandma funeral. Hope to see you when my 
time comes in heaven. Meanwhile take care 
of all of us way up in the skies. It was your 
favorite  place after all your passion. Fare

Tio, que falta nos vas hacer. Siempre te admire y con mucho orgullo hablaba de ti. Gracias por todo lo que hiciste por la familia por tu amor y apoyo, por ayudarme a mudarme Arizona con un pasaje que cambió mi vida para bien, gracias por llevarme a conocer Nueva York, we had such a good time. Siempre te estaré agradecida por todo. La última vez que hablamos tío me dijiste que cuando vinieras a Phoenix me ibas a visitar y me quede esperándote.  Gracias, gracias you will be missed.

What a whirlwind two months as new hires at Delta.  My sim partner, roommate, even sat together in ground school.  You're gone too soon, we were gearing up for your retirement party.  I hope you have a window seat with a great view, brother. Remember; If you have time to sing, you're doing fine on the panel!  Godspeed.

Dear Carmen & Family,

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your father. What an amazing life he lived.  You have put together a wonderful tribute. You can see he was loved by many. As you say goodbye and honor a well-lived life, you are in my thoughts.   

Rolando and I were in VR-24 in Sigonella flying C-2 Greyhound’s around the Mediterranean. “Ghandi “ was an inspiration to us junior officers showing up for our first tour. So many great memories, both in and out of the cockpit! . Thanks for being a mentor to me and others on how to be a Naval Aviator. Man! Could he fly that COD on the ship; a blur of motion, hand and feet moving seemingly everywhere but the plane flying steady and as smooth as silk! My condolences to Wanda and the rest or the Diaz family during these hard times.

Where to start? Rolando is my big brother. He looked at the name tag on my Navy uniform and immediately started treating me like family. His signature intensity and passionate approach to everything became an inspiration for me. We shared a love for aviation, music, the Navy, but most importantly, our families. Rolando was a role model during my early years in the Navy. He pushed me to go back to finish college and become a Naval Officer. Rolando’s and Wandy’s support to my family was a huge enabler to a very successful Naval career that opened even more opportunities for a great life after the military. Our tours of duty separated our families but our friendship remained intact for almost 40 years. Rolando left us way too soon but I’m sure he’s looking over all of us from heaven. To say that I’ll miss you is a gross understatement. Goodbye my dear brother, Rest In Peace 

De parte de la familia Amaro de Fajardo q Dios le de mucha fortaleza a su familia amigo de infancia te  fuiste muy pronto.

I was so sorry to hear about Rolando’s passing. He was such a big part of my life in VR-24 and Sigonella. He taught me so much and we had so much fun together. He was a great leader, teacher, pilot and friend and he will be sorely missed.
Wanda, Carmen, Sonia and Ruben you are all in my thoughts and prayers. I treasure the memories from those times together and hope that you will all take some small measure of comfort from the memories that you made together as a family. I pray that God will bless you all, and bring you the comfort that only He can.

Mr. And Mrs.  Diaz were always so nice to us and we loved living right across the street. Our deepest sympathy to Wanda and the entire Diaz family.  Rolando and I were squadron mates in VAW-124 during our first operational tours of duty in the Navy.  We were able to maintain contact throughout the years in the Navy and then as pilots at Delta Air Lines.  Rolando was cheerful and energetic........and always had an interesting story to tell.  He was extremely proud of his children and their accomplishments.  Rolando will be greatly missed by everyone.  May God bless all of you during this very difficult time.

He will be greatly missed. It was so much fun flying with “Gandi” at Delta.  He had so many good stories. It was a real pleasure to have known him over the years.  He had a bigger than life personality with a smile always on his face.  It is so hard to say goodbye. My condolences to his wife and family.  I can’t imagine how difficult this is for you, but take comfort in how much loved Rolando was. 

Querida Wanda, Carmen, Maribel, Julia, Sonia, Ruben, Evelyn, Amarilys, Familiares y Amistades.  Reciban mi mas sincero y profundo pesar desde el fondo de mi corazón, por la súbita y repentina partida de mi Hermano Rolando.                                              Nunca me imagine estar escribiendo estas palabras dolorosas llenas de llanto, tristeza, dolor y desesperanza. La Voluntad de Dios Nuestro Padre es única e indiscutible.                 Para mi en lo particular fue mas que un amigo, un colega en armas y  un superior. Fue mi Hermano al cual admiro, respeto, aprecio y extrañaré.                                                         Fueron muchas las convivencias que vivimos, profesionales y familiares. Dentro y fuera de los Estados Unidos. Momentos muy gratos y felices. Fiestas, cumple años, nacimientos, bodas, hasta fue mi orador el día de mi retiro de La Marina.                                    El Tiempo con su calma poco a poco sanará nuestro dolor de hoy pero dejara en nuestros corazones el grato recuerdo de haber conocido y compartido la vida con Rolando.                                                                                 Rolando, mi Hermano, ya tienes tus propias alas que Dios te dio. Ya eres un Angel, vuela alto Rolando, vuela alto. Será, hasta que nos veamos nuevamente. 

I greatly enjoyed flying with Rolando when he first got hired at Delta. My deepest condolences to his wife, children and the extended family. He will be greatly missed by his Navy and Delta compadres!!  Blessings and peace.
