Robert Lee Thomas, Sr., 88, went to be with his Lord, Wednesday, May 9, 2018, in Kissimmee, Florida after complications from surgery. Born in Barberton, Ohio, on August 29, 1929, Robert served his Country proudly in the United States Air Force in Fairbanks, Alaska from 1946 to 1948. Afterwards, Robert met and married his beloved Wife Evelyn Ann Ramey on December 29, 1952 in Akron, Ohio. Robert was a "Jack of All Trades" and had many occupations in his 88 years. He delivered house trailers around the United States as well as construction work and was a Route Salesman for 7-Up, Borden Milk, Jack's Cookies and Dixie Uniform & Supply where he retired in 1981. He worked part-time after retirement at Foods for Life Health - a health food store as a baker and handyman.
Robert enjoyed politics and civil war history as well as working in the yard, going to garage sales and auctions. He loved gospel music and watching old westerns and wrestling on T.V. He was known for his sense of humor and telling a good story.
Robert is preceded in death by his loving Wife of 53 years, Evelyn who passed in 2005. Robert is survived by his Daughters; Robin Martin (Howard), Patricia Hooper (William) and Son Robert Lee Thomas, Jr., (Teresa), Brothers; James Thomas of Orlando and Charles Thomas of Murphy, N.C., 6 Grandchildren, 4 Great-Grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Gathering of Friends & Family is scheduled for Friday, May 18th from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at All Faiths Cremation & Burial Society, 4901 S. Orange Ave., Orlando, Florida 32806. A Celebration of Life service will immediately following the gathering beginning at 3:00 PM. With Chaplin Dan Wolf officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to VITAS Hospice Care.
