I’ve stopped trying to figure out life...
This morning hasn’t been an easy one. I sat here and watched the sun rise above the snow tipped mountains of Alaska like it was on an adventure seeking the highest point, but all I could think about was my friend Robert Schwarzman.
I like to think he was a part of that sunrise...Looking over myself, his family, and his friends.........
I’m angry because life isn’t fair sometimes and I can do nothing to control it at this moment.
You see Robert has been on the transplant list to receive new lungs for about a year and a half. Waiting patiently I never saw him complain. Hell I barely ever seen him not smile. Laughing and smiling even with oxygen tubes extending out of his nose just so he could hang with us or come to Taco Tuesdays. That was Robert though, he was a burst of energy and radiated PURE LOVE.
So when he got the call a couple days ago that the lungs are coming he was so full of happiness and everyone that knew him was so damn happy that FINALLY Robert gets his lungs.
The surgery went great but what they didn’t realize was that a blood clot had gotten loose and made its way to the brain..........this left Robert permanently brain dead....
I want to sit here and say he can “Breathe Easy” but i’m too selfish. Id rather see Robert smiling at Taco Tuesdays. So young and so full of life and he just wanted to live it. He was so close and it just breaks my heart to see something so rare happen and take that away from him.
I ask you all to give your love to his family and to his friends for they need it right now.
It still doesn’t seem real.......
I love you awesome dude. I will take you to the top of every mountain with me and you will continue to drive me to be a better person.
