Robert Marro Johnson, age 97, passed away peacefully at The Bridge in Orlando on December 9, 2018. Bob was born in Pittsburgh, PA son of A. Howard Johnson and Leta L. Gates. He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Martha Whiteman Johnson and daughter, Victoria D. Cottone. He is survived by daughter Virginia J. (Dale) Rygg; 4 grandchildren Alex Rygg, Jason (Allison) Cottone, Jeffrey (Amy) Cottone, and Jenna (Brian) Cottone Beauregard. He is also survived by 6 great grandchildren.
Bob was a proud WWII Vet serving in the army in Germany. He graduated as a mechanical engineer from Michigan State University and received a metallurgical engineering degree from Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh. He worked as a mechanical engineer in Pittsburgh for most of his career at various companies including Alcoa and Westinghouse.
Bob regularly attended both Lutheran and Presbyterian churches in the Orlando area. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, dancing, and living at the Fairways in Orlando and was active in the VFW Post at the Fairways, and will be missed by family and friends.
