Robert Lewis Jeter died Saturday morning, January 2, 2021 in Orlando after a short battle with cancer. Robert was born March 21, 1933 in Pahokee, FL to Perry and Erma Jeter and was the eldest of siblings Gene, Jasper, Ormond and Carolyn. He was married to Ernestine Corbin on February 6, 1954 and shared their life until they were separated on her death October 2016. His love and devotion brought him to be her caretaker while she suffered the ravages of Alzheimer’s disease. Robert is survived by his sister Carolyn and brother Jasper; his son Keith and wife JoAnne; grandsons Jonah, Adam and wife Kristy and his great grandchildren Tyler, Kara, and Jenna. Robert served in US Navy during the Korean War. He then served 39 years as Florida Highway Patrol trooper. During the 39 years he was stationed in Daytona, Bradenton where he earned his pilot’s license and multi-engine rating, Orlando which he flew the FHP aircraft, Arcadia, then returned to Orlando for the Weights Division from Orlando to the Georgia border. After the Weight Division was dissolved, he remained in Orlando. Robert (Bob) wrote many tickets and then paid the fines of those he believed could not afford the fine. The ticket was written because a violation occurred. He made friends with NASCAR driver Marvin Panch and President George HW Bush. Bob had lifelong friends from childhood, Navy, FHP family, from church, and through just being. Bob was a church deacon at Shenandoah Baptist Church and then a member of Pine Castle Baptist Church. Bob was a Mason, Patron of Eastern Star, and a 33rd degree Inspector General Honoree of the Scottish Rite. Robert had an illustrative life filled with many friends and adventures of collecting hobbies of guitar playing, pilot licenses, woodworking, engine repair, metal detecting, stamp collecting, and camping. Bob was an animal lover who cared for many cats and dogs paying for spaying of neutering of many strays. He was fiercely loyal and will be missed. Bob will be interred next to the love of his life – Ernestine.
Viewing will be at Baldwin Fairchild @ Chapel Hill on 2420 Harrell Road, Orlando on Wednesday, January 6 from 5 – 7:00 pm with funeral at Eastland Baptist Church, 9000 Lake Underhill, Orlando at 1pm on Thursday and grave side service following.
