Reginald was born in Saint Phillip, Barbados, on February 13, 1929, to Clementina Fields and Irvine Beresford Seales. He was an engaging, inquisitive, and precocious child who was the youngest of three children, which included his sisters Evelyn and Reka – both deceased. Reginald was analytical by nature with a proficiency in mathematics which afforded him the opportunity to work as a bookkeeper at a young age.
He emigrated to England in the 1960s and was a productive member of the Windrush generation. While in London, he met and married his beloved late wife Lilybell Fields, where they grew their family and remained dedicated to one another for over 54 years until her passing in 2020. The family then immigrated to New York in 1979 where Reginald worked in the medical field along with his wife. Albeit a humble lifestyle, they were blessed with the ability to purchase an eight-bedroom house in Brooklyn where Reginald continuously opened his home to several family members and friends by providing housing and financial assistance. He was a god-fearing, honest, and loving gentlemen that was blessed with the desire and ability to help others and was always generous with his time and belongings. Upon retirement in 1994, he moved to Orlando, Florida, and enjoyed a fruitful and fulfilling life.
He received Christ early in life and remained a faithful servant joining the First Baptist Church of Pine Hills. He and his wife followed Pastor Pritchard and became charter members of Grace Bible Church of Central Florida. He attended church regularly until his health began to decline and faithfully watched virtually until his passing.
Mr. Fields was a social being and immensely loved by his peers and family. As a wonderful and comedic storyteller, he often shared stories of his childhood and life experiences and provided guidance on how to manage obstacles in life. He loved music (especially calypso) and had a penchant for telling jokes which was a joy to all who heard. His verbose and charismatic nature made him the life of any party!
Reginald was a proud man who believed in education, home ownership, and maintaining excellent credit. He was an exceptional provider who always put his family first. ‘Reggie’, affectionately referred to by those closest to him, enjoyed watching and umpiring cricket matches, basketball, and old English sitcoms that brought joy and laughter into his later years.
Reg will be remembered as a supportive husband, father, and friend who always came through in times of need.
He leaves to cherish his memories seven children: Donald, Lister, Myrna, Marva, AnneMarie, Michelle, Sharon, and stepdaughter Joan, ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
