Penny was born in Millville, New Jersey on May 17, 1953 to Joseph and Shirley Scroggy. She was later adopted by her step-father Charles Lupton when her mother remarried. During her senior year of high school, she was associated with several different groups such as the Junior and Senior Prom Committee, Volley Ball, and Chess Club to name a few.
Penny served her country for twenty years and retired from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. She was also a registered nurse who worked at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Downtown Orlando and later transferred to the Doctor Phillips Hospital on Turkey Lake Road which is also the hospital where she passed away. Though she had not worked for several years, via doctor's orders, she faithfully renewed her RN status every two years. In March of this year, 2016, just 6 short months prior to her passing, she renewed her RN certifications. Penny is survived by her husband of 38 years, Samuel Hard, and her three children, Angela, Jacquelyn, and Joseph.
Funeral Services are being held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 1st at Family Funeral Care located on John Young Parkway across from the 417.
