Martha was the oldest child in her family, with her younger brother Larry Shaw. Growing up in Jamestown, Louisiana, she attended school from 1st to 12th grade, graduating in a class of just 12 students. After high school, she made her way to Shreveport, LA, where she worked for Southern Airways and Arkansas Gas Company. One evening, Martha and her friends attended a dance at Barksdale Air Force Base where she met the love of her life, Paul LeDuc. Martha and Paul married on February 7, 1959. Though their journey briefly took them to Atlanta, Georgia, they eventually settled in Orlando, Florida.
Martha and Paul celebrated 65 years of marriage and their foundation of love and commitment to each other was a shining example to others and a gift to witness. Paul sat many hours holding Martha's hand as she made her way to God’s promise of eternity.
Martha's love for travel was evident throughout her life, as she explored many countries, national parks, and cherished summers spent in Rhode Island and Louisiana, ensuring her Florida children had strong connections with their extended family. Good times were enjoyed by all during these summer visits.
Martha had a passion for sewing, making outfits for her children and costumes for her grandchildren. When an item of clothing needed mending or fitted, she was ready! Martha was also an avid reader, an amazing bargain shopper (driving to more than one store for the best price in a day) and always balanced her checkbook to the penny. Her best gift was the love of taking care of Paul.
Martha had a wonderful bible study group and learned and lived by the Bible’s teachings, serving as an inspiration to many.
Martha's memory will be lovingly carried on by her devoted husband, Paul LeDuc, her three children: Paula LeDuc Crawford (Mark), Yolonda LeDuc Huhn (Doug), and Reginald LeDuc, as well as her six grandchildren: Tyler Huhn (Amber), Jocelyn Galecki (Matthew), Kelsey Huhn, Julianne Huhn Bieger (Nikolai), Cole Crawford (Mackenzie), and McCall LeDuc. Martha was blessed with eight great grandchildren whom she treasured watching grow and play.
We wish to thank the many visitors, phone calls, cards, flowers and help, Jayne, Irlene and Nelsi, who cared for Martha along with her loving family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Southside Baptist in memory of Martha LeDuc.
