mother, grandmother, and great grandmother—passed into the hands of the Lord at the age of
82. She was survived by her husband Walter, daughter AnnMarie, son-in-law Al, and son Thomas.
She also left behind her grandson Kyle, daughter-in-law Amie, two granddaughters Harley and
Raven and five great grandchildren Nate, Noah, Liam, Lukas, and Matthew.
Marie was born September 10, 1937 to Mary Elizabeth and Joseph O’Brien and raised in
Rockville Center, New York with older brother Joseph, and two older sisters Katherine and Betty.
She was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic church. She was an
avid bowler and a girl scout troop leader. She enjoyed traveling the world over, and she especially
loved all locations with a Disney theme park. When she wasn't taking in exotic locales, one would
often find her knitting and sewing. Indeed, Marie would knit Christmas stockings for every new
member of our family and for our friends. She was also a skilled stuffed animal doctor with her
needle and thread.
She met her husband, of 57 years, Walter, in 1954. They lived in Lanoka Harbor, New Jersey for
28 years before retiring to their home in Orlando, Florida, near their best friends Robert and
Cleora Johnson.
Never one to be off her feet for too long, Marie always took care of her dogs and cats, as well
as numerous rescue cats and a family of raccoons. She also made sure to tend her garden. She
absolutely adored her roses.
Still, no one can deny that her greatest joy was loving and supporting her family. Though forever
in our hearts, she will be deeply missed.
