After graduation from West Wilkes High School she attended Appalachian State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music. A true artist, her medium was sculpture, painting, music and literature. Her canvas was life.
She taught music for the Wilkes County School System for many years. Her students were her passion and they adored her. She remembered many of them, by name, even after her retirement. It was not uncommon for her to receive calls and notes of appreciation from former students.
She was an active member of the Hinshaw Baptist Church, North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Church, Rumple Memorial Presbyterian, Mt Jefferson Presbyterian Church, Wilkes Art Gallery and Hospice of Wilkes, just to name a few.
In addition to teaching, she performed in The Legend of Tom Dooley, Wilkes Community College Jazz Band and Drama Department productions. Her sculptures and paintings were exhibited in galleries throughout North Carolina. She often shared her artworks as gifts to friends and family.
Marguerite was known for her creative spirit, keen sense of humor and zest for life. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and a friend to all.
