Lynda was born in Pensacola, Florida on June 23, 1964 and passed away on January 19, 2016 at the age of 51, under the compassionate care of Cornerstone Hospice at Orlando Regional Medical Center, following a three year struggle with breast cancer. Lynda was educated at St. Charles School and Bishop Moore Catholic High School, both of Orlando, and at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where she earned a degree in Accounting and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha. Lynda had a number of jobs over her working life. She started with jobs in the real estate, banking and technology industries in Orlando, Jacksonville and Miami. In 1995 she packed up her horse and proceeded across the country, settling in Southern California working in the same industries. For the last ten years, Lynda was an analyst doing marketing research for high tech companies, a job of which she was very fond. In June of 2015, unable to continue caring for herself, she moved to Winter Park to continue her treatment for cancer.
Lynda is survived by her father, Jim, and step-mother, Anne, both of Winter Park, her brother Jimmy of Orlando, and her sister, Lisa (Martin) Hardy of Chapel Hill, NC. Also surviving are her uncle, John (Ruth) Lane, and her mother, Mary Lane, of Bradenton, her step-sister Christine (David) Hempsted and her step-brother, Peter (Tami) Diebel, both of Winter Park. She was predeceased in death by her step-brother, Don (Karen) Diebel, Jr.
When we think of Lynda, we can’t help thinking of the Frank Sinatra classic, “I Did It My Way”. That was Lynda. She loved her horses (Hank and Max) and her dogs (Hero and Little Pig) dearly. She happily spent many hours of each day enjoying them and caring for them. May she rest in peace.
Her funeral services are entrusted to Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home – Ivanhoe Chapel. There will be a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 26th. The Rev. Happy L. Gafford will officiate. A reception will follow at the home of Jim and Anne Lane. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Lynda’s name to the American Cancer Society, 507 N. New York Avenue, Winter Park, FL 32789, in the hope that it can be used to conquer this insidious disease.
