Courtney, John A., Sr., went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 21, 2016. He was born on September 25, 1929, in Somers Point, NJ. John lived in Orlando for the past 30 years, and was a Florida resident for over 50 years. He was the last remaining member of his immediate family, which included 8 siblings. John was survived by his loving and devoted wife, Carol, of 25 years, his four children, Wanda Perez, and her husband Sam of CA, Jenny Farrell, and her husband Charlie of Iowa, John Courtney Jr., and his wife Lia of FL, and Raney Cook, and her husband Billy of NY. John was also survived by his grandchildren, Johnathan, Justin, Brandon, Kelsey, Rachel, Rebecca, Amanda and Jesse, as well as five great grandchildren.
John was a veteran, having served our country during the Korean War. He was a retired driver for the transportation industry, where two of the loves of his life,
people and vehicles, came together. His gift of encouragement and his desire to help others were especially evident as he served those in nursing homes and also within the prison ministry. All who knew John could not help but be touched by his warm and friendly personality.
He will be greatly missed.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Family Funeral Care in Orlando, Florida. Services will be held at the Hiawassa Bible Chapel
at 1900 Hiawassee Rd, Orlando, FL 32818.
The viewing is at 10:00 AM and the funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM.
