Helen Coith Weeks, age 91, passed away peacefully on February 19. Born December 11, 1930, in Orlando and raised in the Lancaster Park neighborhood, she graduated from Florida State University and was a member of Pi Beta Phi, Cathedral Church of St. Luke, the Rosalind Club, and Orlando Country Club. Helen was instrumental in bringing the opera to Orlando through the Junior League and enjoyed production coordination for the annual show. With friends, Helen started and operated The Black Sheep, a knitting and needlepoint shop on Park Avenue in Winter Park. Helen was an avid gardener and duplicate bridge player throughout her life. She is predeceased by her parents, Bernice Soller Coith and Alvin Theodore Coith, also known as Mr. City Beautiful; her husband of 58 years, Donald Leslie Weeks, Jr., MD.; and her brother, Stephen Coith, and sister, Barbara Ricker. Helen is survived by her three daughters, Barbara Williford (Joe) of Raleigh, Margaret Weeks of Indianapolis and Ormond Beach, and Leslie Truluck (Bob) of Orlando, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Cathedral Church of St. Luke, 103 N. Magnolia Ave., at 1 pm, Thursday, March 3, 2022. There will be a reception immediately following the service at the church.
