The things I remember most about Helen is her laugh.  It was always a full laugh.  The kind of laugh that let you know that person was really happy and it would affect you the same way too. Those laughs are always memorable.  I remember when Helen and her daughters threw me a baby shower when I was pregnant with my first daughter.  I never expected that.  She always treated me with kindness and respect. I remember funny times too. One time I ran into her sliding glass door because I was lagging behind everyone else going into her backyard.  We got a good laugh out of it and I had a big knot on my forehead.  Next time I came over to her house, she had put decals all over the doors so I would see it.  You had to love her sense of humor but she was never cruel.  Another time, we made a late night visit when she lived in Ashatula and they were sitting around drinking banana rum.  She ended offering me a drink and I could have sat there and joined the party.  That was the thing about Helen.  She always made you feel welcome no matter what time of the day or night it was.  She was someone you wanted to be around.  I ended up going home with a bottle of banana flavored rum that night. She had compassion, spirit, and possessed a deep  understanding of people.  I never knew my own mother growing up but if I could have picked one I would have picked Helen.  I love and miss you Helen.

My mom was a very crafty person; I remember different crafts we made together while we were growing up. Mom liked to look at crafts created by others so she could see new things and maybe learn a new craft herself.
 
Twice a year I looked forward to meeting up with my mom and sisters. We would spend the whole day at the craft shows. First we would meet at The Lake Eola craft show in November and then again in December for the Cracker Christmas. We would spend the day looking at the crafts then brag about how we could make the same thing ourselves for a lot less money. No one ever really bought any thing except for Teresa when she needed new Christmas yard art. Kendra, my moms make believe niece, always made sure we experienced the local cuisine while we were there. I looked forward to this every year! Every now and then life would get busy and one of us would not make it but mom was always there. This time for me was not to see the local crafts; it was the time we spent with our mom catching up on what was new in our lives. Mom would learn things we did when we were kids that we would have never told her back then. These were things we would only tell after we not longer lived under her roof and at least ten years had gone by. Mom would pretend to get mad and we would all laugh and make fun. I will miss my mom not being here to share this time with me.
 
I will always be grateful to my mom for giving me my sisters.   I hope we can bring ourselves to continue meeting every year. Going to the craft shows will not be the same with out my mom. This time will now be for reminiscing about how mom loved some thing at the shows or how she enjoyed doing some thing while she was there. I think my mom will always go to the craft shows with us but now it will only be in spirit.

I worked with Helen in the early 1980s at Ben Franklin. She was the experienced floral arranger and I was the new young manager. How I enjoyed our many lunches together and laughing with her. She talked often about her children, and I sought advice for my dating life. She had a bawdy sense of humor and a twinkle in her eye. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. I know she will be greatly missed.

       I will always be grateful for the time you took to make the flower arrangements for my wedding.
       I will never forget the time when we would sit on the bed eating strawberries and watching tv all day. I always enjoyed those times we shared together.
       What I'm going to miss about you is....everything.

I will always remember when we went to Fort Christmas and you could point out people that you knew and that were part of our family. I am forever grateful for the family that you have given me.

There are so many wonderful memories, it is hard to pick just one. I do remember the time we went to visit Aunt Helen and Charlie. They showed us their garden; all those vegetables and fruits. Of course Kenneth couldn't resist those strawberries. He started picking them and eating them as she was showing them to us, and she said "stop, stop...i just put sevin dust on them".

We will miss everything about Aunt Helen; especially her presence at the family get togethers. She was a very loving, kind, and generous person who always made you feel appreciated and loved. 

We will always be grateful that we had so much time with her, yet it seems as though it wasn't enough. I am grateful that Kenneth was able to spend those few last days with her while she was in the hospital. 

We will love and miss her always.

I'll never forget the time when you wore a tiny necklace to the family reunion and when anyone would try to look at it closer you would hold it between your fingers for them to see and smile at me because we did not want them to read the inscription on the back of it, an inscription meant to share my love for you.

What I will miss most about you is your beautiful smile. The one I call your ~Love Smile~ The one when your dimple goes it's deepest.

I will always be grateful for the slanted lowered chin look you gave to silently say ~ throw your shoulders back and show who you are~. The person that you taught to know that it will never matter what other know or think they know as long as I know it myself and to treat others with respect rather they are deserving of respect or not. These things I will always carry with me, it is who you helped me to be. And I always like to say that I got my ~Class~ from my Aunt Helen.

I will never forget my Grandma's hugs and kisses, the way she hugged me for a long time like she would never let go. But what i will miss the most is her love for me and how she would always say "how's my boy". What I'm greatful the most about Grandma is the love she gave me. She always made sure to spend time with me and tell me how much she will always love me

Dedication Letter From Brenda:

Mom, they told me I was supposed to answer three simple questions, but you know me. I canâ€™t just answer those questions without a long story attached to it. So I will answer those questions, but it will be in a very long STORY. I remember how you use to worry about me. â€œWas I ever going to make something out of myselfâ€, because I was so determined to be independent.  To think and do as I wish, without regards to your wishes.â€ But in fact my whole life I would ask your opinion on everything in my life. But I will never forget any of your advice and my life is so successful because of you. So all those times we talked in person and over the phone are my unforgettable times. The advice you gave was never cut and dry, sometimes you would just listen and the answers would come out of our conversations. You were always good at that.
 
The best time in my life was when I would meet one of your friends and they would say â€œOh you are the one that has all those college degrees. Your mom is so proud of you.â€ But what they did not know was I had all those degrees because I would listen to Mom when she said â€œGet an Educationâ€. Mom would say to me, â€œI never imagined that you would take me so serious.â€ But after 12 years of college, she said to me, â€œare you going to spend your whole life in college.â€ 
  
I will miss your hugs, kisses and the sound of your laugh. But most of all I will miss you in my life. I was the one child who was the most independent and out spoken. At times you would wonder if YOU would let me live to grow up. Iâ€™m sure now you are as proud of me as you are with all your girls. You use to say â€œall I want is my kids to be independent and grown before I go to the Lordâ€. Mom I will never be all grown up and I will always need you. Iâ€™m so grateful for all the things you have done for me. You made my life full of fun times and lots of memories. The parties we all attended and the times we all just hung out and talked. You were not just my mother; you were my friend and most times my therapist. You never judged me for my decisions even when you disagreed with them. The last six weeks of your life, I would whisper in your ear, I LOVE YOU and YOU ARE THE BEST MOM ANYONE COULD EVER HAVE.

Dedication Letter from Teresa:

I will never forget the times we spent together buying flowers for the cemetary. We would spend hours going through the flowers to come up with the right arrangements. After we would finish our shopping we would go to Chilies and have lunch together we ALWAYS ORDERED THE SPICY NACHOS AND IP. She said it was the only time she could eat that because Charlie did not like spicy stuff. The things I will miss most about Mom are the funny, sad and happy times we have shared. She was always there to call if I needed to talk and it didn't matter what it was. She was always a part of everything from births, deaths, good times and bad times. She was like my best friend and Mom all rolled into one. That is what I miss the most. My friend and confidant.

Dedicaion Letter from Tom:

I will never forget the first time I met Helen. Teresa took me to Helen's house thirty-one years ao to be introduced to her. We were outside talking for a while and Helen said to Teresa, "why is he not working and what is up with the long hair". Teresa had no comment to give her, so i told Helen, "You must have a real green thumb and what a beautiful flower garden she has", She said, "it's all about grafting", she suggest4ed I take one of these small plants home and grow it. She taught me a lot about plants. As we left Helen told Teresa she thought she might could get used to me. I will miss the most about Helen is her intelligence and critizem and down to earth love. But i will always be greaful to her for my wife Teresa.

Dedication Letter from Donette:

I will never forget the time when I would go to her house and we would walk the property talking about plants and how to care for them. She would always dig up a plant or two for me to take back with me.  Aunt Helen always had a green thumb and was always willing to share her knowledge about plants. But most of all the last memory will be this past Easter. That memory will be the one I hold dear in my heart. Aunt Helen sitting under the tree and just talked and laugh with all us kids. She would always call us KIDS, because to her we will always be KIDS. That always made me feel warm inside, because it brought back memories of old times as a child. 

I will miss my Aunt Helen laughter the most. She had a great laugh; the laugh was from deep inside and would be the most prominent laugh in the room.  She would never hold back from her happiness, she always keeps things going with her humor and laughter. 

The one thing I was grateful for as I was growing up. Was that my Aunt Helen always opened her arms and many times her home to all of us kids.  She was another Mom to us all and she would always open her home to us kids no matter what time of day or night it was. That brought me comfort in times when I needed her the most.

Please know that all of you are in our thoughts during this very difficult time.  I hope all of you know we love you very much.

 Bobbi and I are so sorry to hear of your mom's passing, and can understand your pain and feelings. Your mom will be in our prayers as well as you, Tim and Hutch. Please give your sisters our condolences as well.

 I still have every flower she made for my wedding. Will pull them out, have another look at them, and say a prayer for your mom and all of you, too. XOXO
