Dr. George J. DuBois, son of the late Lionel and Blanche DuBois of Naugatuck, CT, and brother of the late Dr. Robert DuBois, Admiral Raymond DuBois, Louis DuBois, Earl DuBois, Mae Spignesi, Rita Frigon, Blanche Frigon, and Pearl Hummell.
A graduate of Georgetown University, School of Dentistry in 1944, Dr. DuBois served in the U.S. Army Dental Corp in the South Pacific with the rank of Captain during World War II. He interned at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT before practicing dentistry in Naugatuck, CT for forty years. Dr. DuBois served on the Naugatuck, CT Welfare Board for 3 years and the Charter Revision committee for 2 years. He was also one of the original owners of Professional Park, Inc. Dr. DuBois opened up a dental clinic for the children of Naugatuck whose parents could not afford to send them to a dentist.
Dr. DuBois was a charter member of the Naugatuck Exchange Club, member of the Naugatuck Lion’s Club, and a member of the Naugatuck American Legion Post 17. He was a Charter member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and later director of the Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Jeff-Club of Naugatuck. Dr. DuBois was a Life member of the Connecticut Dental Association as well as the American Dental Association. He served as President of the Greater Waterbury Dental Society and was an Associate with Cape Cod Dental Health Center.
Dr. Dubois was a member of the Waterbury Country Club. An avid golfer, he ran the “DuBois Invitational Golf Tournament” in Naugatuck, CT for many years and he was a member of the Royal Wood Golf and Country Club of Naples, FL. Member of the Naples Elk’s Club of Naples, FL.
Dr. DuBois is survived by four children: Karen Meston of Trabuco Canyon, CA, Gayle DuBois of Niantic, CT, Karl DuBois of Orlando, FL, and Guy DuBois of Acworth, NH, 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and sisters: Claire Oemcke of Milford, CT and Cecile Gagne of Norwich, CT.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 11 am at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 am until the time of the service.
