Frank "Gramps" F. Barr Jr.

Frank F. Barr, Jr. (“Gramps”) died June 27, 2016 at the VITAS Inpatient Hospice Unit. Born December 23, 1926 in Orange, New Jersey, he was married to Marie “Mimi” Barr for over 55 years until her death in 2009. Father to Linda Schrumpf and Elaine Beecher, grandfather to Katie Shaw, Ashley Beecher, Kelly Schrumpf, and Luke Beecher, and great-grandfather to Avery Merrick, Frank was also a WWII Army veteran, and a founding member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Poinciana. An Oil Tanker Broker with Dietze, Inc. in Rockefeller Plaza until his retirement at age 51, he later moved to Florida and remained active through walking, biking, gardening, visiting with family, and calling TV news stations to protest that Poinciana was not included on the weather map until they finally accepted his rain gauge measurements as data for their report. For the past 7 years he lived at Plantation Oaks Senior Living, supervising the weather, traffic, and theme park fireworks from his 4th floor window.
