Bennett, Evelyn 85, of Edgewood, Florida passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016. Born to Frances and Alexander Mercer in Detroit, Michigan, Evelyn was raised in Detroit with her three sisters, Irene, Marion , and Doris. Her passions included perch fishing in the Great Lakes, cooking, shopping, travel, and hosting family functions. In the early 1980s Evelyn took her quest for continued learning to Kent State University where she earned her B.A. degree in accounting. As CFO, this degree proved to be very helpful when she and her husband, Edward, established successful industrial distributorships in Orlando and West Palm Beach, FL. Evelyn always enjoyed working with her kids in the family business along with all her employees whom she always considered as part of her extended family. She was preceded in death in 2008 by her husband, Edward, and survived by her son, Bradley, and his wife, Stefanie (of Orlando), with grandsons Jason, Brolin, Adrian, Gresham and granddaughter Harlie Noel; by son, Gordon, and his wife, Donna (of Orlando), parents of Matthew and Megan; and daughter, Robin and her husband, Steve Coldwell (of West Palm Beach), with granddaughter Audrey and grandson Spencer. Due to Evelyn's courageous ten-year battle against breast cancer, she and her family have requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to your local Breast Cancer research organization. The family will receive friends at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, Pine Castle Chapel (5800 Hansel Avenue, Orlando, 407-855-5800) on Monday, March 7, beginning at 11AM.
