Dorothy M. Simpson

SIMPSON, DOROTHY M., born February 23, 1928 and raised in Parkton, MD, passed away April 13, 2012. Dorothy worked as a volunteer at Dover Shores Elementary School, starting a program that later became the "Additions Program" in Orange County. She then worked as a media specialist for Orange County Public Schools. Dorothy also worked for the State of Florida long term care ombudsman council. Dorothy enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and the Meditarrean with her loving husband Stanley. She also found great enjoyment in visiting lighthouses, the beauty of an orchid and butterflies in the garden. Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Stanley Simpson. She is survived by sons Carl and Stephen, daughter Patricia (Johnnie) Booth, grandchildren Michelle LaGree, Darryl LaGree, Eric Simpson and Sara Simpson. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 11AM in the chapel of Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home at 2811 Curry Ford Rd. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a hospice or any medical research organization.
