It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Doris Emma Darling Bishop. Doris was born on September 11th, 1922, in Wauchula, Florida, and passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on June 28th, 2023, in Oviedo, Seminole County, Florida.
Doris graduated from Wauchula High School in 1940 and was married to John Lee Bishop on January 23, 1944.
Doris was a homemaker and loving mother of four. She absolutely loved life. Even at 100 years old, she loved traveling, attending society events, and being actively involved in family gatherings. For many years she was a dynamic member at Reeves United Methodist Church, the Orlando Garden Club, the Florida Orchid Society, the United Methodist Women, and the Orange Blossom Chorus Women’s Auxiliary. She held positions of leadership in many of these organizations. Doris had a passion for orchids, and barbershop quartet music but there was nothing she loved move than spending time with her family, especially the little ones.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, John Lee Bishop and her grandson John-Paul Chandler Bishop.
She is survived by her children Martha Graveley (husband James Graveley), Floyd (Jim) Bishop (wife Teresa Bishop), David Bishop (fiancée Patti Warren), Mary Ellen Ebel, and daughter-in-law Melodye Bishop; her grandchildren Charissa Forgie (husband Larry Forgie), Erin Bishop (husband AJ Peters), Jason Graveley (wife Jessica Vega-Graveley), Ben Ebel (wife Rebecca Ebel) and Sara Daugherty; and her great-grandchildren Kyle Forgie, Kenzie Forgie, Cheyenne Hammond, Zachary Graveley, Charlotte Ebel, Emma Ebel, Brayden Ebel, and Parker Ebel.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held Saturday, July 22nd, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Baldwin Fairchild Chapel at Chapel Hill Cemetery, 2420 Harrell Road, Orlando, FL 32817. Dress casually and wear something red if you would like to honor Doris. She loved red.
