Gigi’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her gentle smile knew that time spent with her was a blessing. Gigi would melt the hearts of those around her and though she never spoke a word, her voice and thoughts could always be heard.
Although Gigi’s illness made her appear frail, she possessed strength, perseverance, and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. She enjoyed romantic Spanish music, road trips to the mall or park and the color red. She loved to have sleepovers at her parents’ house and to laugh and play all day with them.
With Gigi’s passing we remind others that her life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss her every day, she will forever remain in our hearts. Through our time spent with her, we were able to create wonderful memories and it has been a privilege to be her family.
Gigi leaves behind many wonderful caregivers, Sonne Peterson, Kathy Moore and Rosette Ferreira, that provided love and support that enhanced her quality of life for the last 17 years. All of these special people, too numerous to mention provided Gigi with love and dignity in her life and also in her death. She will be dearly missed by all her special caregivers at the Fern Park Developmental Center.
Gigi is survived by her loving parents, Ramon and Gloria Robles of Brooklyn, NY; brothers, Raymond and David Robles and sister, Daisy (Jimmy) Disbrow; nieces and nephews, Katelyn, Anthony and Ryan Robles, Dylan and Destiny Disbrow: and many cousins.
The family has requested, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made for additional funeral expenses to:
