Born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 7, 1956, and passed away on April 11, 2021 in Belle Isle, Florida. Denise’s life blessed all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Corey McGinnis, aunt, Dolores Crowley, brother, Garry (Lucinda) Lovelace, sister, Dina (Tom) Goodenow, brother, William “Bill” Lovelace, Jr., niece, Adrienne Lovelace, niece, Alina (Kyle) Hanna, niece, Annah (Josh) Eick, nephew, Anderson (Rachel) Lovelace, niece, Hannah Goodenow, niece, Emily Goodenow, six grand nieces and nephews (with another on the way), her cousins and their families.
She is predeceased by her father, William E. Lovelace, Sr., mother, Dorothy DaCollina Lovelace, and her uncle, Tom Crowley.
Denise graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1974 and attended the University of Central Florida (UCF). Later, she received her MBA through the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College.
Early in her career, she worked as a Senior Systems Analyst with Educational Computer Corporation (ECC) in Orlando. She re-positioned herself in the healthcare industry with Icore Healthcare and later as a contract manager within the pharmaceutical division of Magellan Health Services. Denise was valued by employers and colleagues for her pleasant demeanor, professionalism, organizational skills, and dedication to completing projects with excellence.
Denise met Corey while attending UCF. From then on, the two were inseparable. Each was the other’s constant companion, confidant, and friend. Corey was the love of her life, and they enjoyed more than 40 years of marriage together. The steadfast love Corey and Denise shared, their love of God, family, and life, is an extraordinary example for us all.
Denise was an incredible person. She was never one to draw attention to herself but would quietly reach out in kindness to those in need. Looking on life with optimism, her strength and perseverance came from the desire to honor her God. She was an elegant woman, whose gentle spirit, quiet strength, and wise council brought comfort to those who were close to her.
As an active member of Pine Castle United Methodist Church (PCUMC), she participated in the Women’s Bible Study. She enjoyed cooking, collecting cookbooks, cross-stitch, listening to music, and water aerobics. Holiday gatherings were always a delight as family anticipated her signature dishes and elegant presentations. Her cross-stitch pieces were highly prized works of art, and each was made with loving care and a message of hope. She especially loved her family and enjoyed spoiling her nieces and nephews.
Though we know we will see her again, Denise will be dearly missed.
