David Cole Hardy

David Cole Hardy passed on Saturday, April 9th, 2022, at home surrounded by family and friends.

Dave was enthusiastic about environmental conservation and astronomy as a few of his many interests. His last volunteer work was at the Orlando Science Center using the telescope in the observation area. Dave had a love of animals and was active in supporting the local Williamsburg Friends of Animals (WFOA) and Pet Alliance.

Dave’s other areas of interest included traveling, cruising, hiking, and visiting state parks. He especially enjoyed going to Disney Parks where he met his wife Joyce on their first date.

Dave loved spending time with family and enjoyed being the family photographer, capturing so many childhood memories from birthdays, holidays, and family reunions according to his loving niece and nephew, Donna, and Alan.

Dave earned his master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

He had considered a career in astronomy given his passion for this area. Dave’s interest in space, partnered by his extreme intelligence landed him one the greatest accomplishments of his career. Dave and a small team were commissioned to develop a highly specialized camera and lenses for NASA to be utilized in capturing images for the Space Lab. Dave was elated when his project came to fruition and the equipment was used on a spacewalk. He stated it was the best part of his career.

Later in Dave’s accomplished life, he married his wife, Joyce and gained stepchildren and grandchildren and was easily settling into his role as Papa. He loved spending time with family. He continued his role as a loving Uncle to his much-loved niece and nephew, Donna, and Alan.

All that knew Dave, know that he was a devoted son, brother, Uncle, friend, Husband, Father and Grandfather and he will be deeply missed!!!!

A visitation for David will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Family Funeral Care, 13001 South John Young Pkwy, Orlando, FL 32837, followed by a celebration of life from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
