Chin Choon Khor was born in Kedah, Malaysia in 1944. Eager for adventure and mischief, he convinced his reluctant parents to send him to college in Taiwan. This experience was a premonition for his entire life, as he always sought big risks for the possibility of big rewards. He graduated in 1969 and then set sail for Canada where he enrolled in the University of British Columbia's prestigious school of science. Part of an early generation of overseas students filling the university halls, he graduated in the year 1973. Chin met his wife Margaret in Toronto, Canada where they married in 1976. Kids followed in quick succession: Denise, Victor, Rose. They moved first to Calgary, Alberta before settling in Orlando, Florida. Chin worked as the Senior Director of Public Services for the city of Eustis from 1989 until his retirement in 2007. He was a leader in the community, having served as President of the Chinese Kissimmee Association. He loved singing (and sometimes mused that he wanted to be a pop star). He loved cowboy Westerns, classical Hollywood, and kung fu films. He leaves behind his wife, their three children, and four grandchildren, all of whom miss him dearly.
Chin was a passionate environmentalist, so in lieu of flowers, please donate to the Florida Wildlife Federation: https://floridawildlifefederation.org/donate/ .
A public visitation for Chin will be held Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Family Funeral Care, 13001 South John Young Pkwy, Orlando, FL 32837.
