Catherine M. Wilson, 99, of Queens, New York, beloved wife of the late Jack Wilson entered eternal life on June 24, 2022, at Somerby Senior Living, Orlando, FL.
Born in Manhattan in 1923, Catherine was the daughter of the late James & Ella Kiernan. She was raised in Queens, NY and married her beloved Jack after WWII on June 21, 1947, and the two shared a beautiful marriage of 64 years prior to Jack’s passing in January 2011. Catherine raised 4 children while moving many times to provide support for her husband’s career. Later in life Catherine and Jack built a couple successful businesses together called Endocreme and The Perfume Shop, in Dallas.
Catherine loved to volunteer, read, travel, sing and laugh. She loved a good story and a great storm. Catherine and Jack once travelled to Bermuda during a hurricane to celebrate a birthday, never deterred by the storm. She was a Girl Scout Troup Leader many years and made sure her children were involved in every sporting activity. She never drank, never smoked, never cussed, and loved her butter! She loved any excuse to dress up and she had a hat and necklace for every occasion.
In 2000 Catherine and Jack retired to The Villages in Florida. Catherine cared for her beloved husband until his passing in 2011. Then Catherine moved closer to her daughters in Orlando. Catherine enjoyed living at Spring Hills, Hunters Creek before moving to the Somerby Senior Living – Lake Nona. Catherine loved to organize their library in her spare time, go on bus trips and also play canasta.
Survivors include her loving children John (Karen) Wilson, Jane (Bill) Bieberbach, Jeanne (Barry) Green and Jim Wilson. Catherine cherished her grandchildren, and they called her Mema - James, Catherine (Sean), and Katie (fiancé John). Her great-grandchildren Mathilda and Ella were adored. Catherine is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staffs at Spring Hill, Somerby Senior Living, Home Instead, and Cornerstone Hospice for their care and constant attention to Catherine.
