After Graduating high school, Bruce was in the restaurant business and was the co-owner of a restaurant in Xenia, Ohio. In 1972 he moved to Orlando and worked for K-Mart Corporation for years, retiring from K-Mart in 2001.
He is survived by his brothers Nicholas and Nathan Vandervort, his sisters Judith Wilson, Nancy Kelly, Delilah Stowers, and Martha Vandervort. Also surviving is his partner Matt Ponczoch.
He is predeceased by his parents and sister Beverly Levine, brothers Mark and David Vandervort and partner Donald Mills.
