Betty Parks happily joined her husband, mother, friends and family in heaven on September 25, 2019. Born on August 5, 1930 in Monteagle, Tennessee, she was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. David Parks and Betty Holder were married 68 years after a brief courtship that crossed state lines and many Greyhound Bus trips. She is survived by her 3 sons: Keith (Joella), Mike (Candy) and Craig (Lori); 5 Grandchildren: Adam (Karissa), Meredith (Brandon), Bennett (Deirdre), Connor (Kalia) and Matthew; and two great grand-daughters, Callie & Brighton. In addition, she is survived by two younger sisters: Doreen Smith (Les) of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and Ruby Nunley (Marshall), of Monteagle, Tennessee.
After supporting David throughout his 20+ year career in the Air Force, and raising a family, Betty continued her primary goal of running a family and becoming the World’s Greatest Grandmother as the family made their way to Orlando, Florida. In addition, she was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), and served as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School volunteer, Cub Scout Den Mother, Band Parent and Little League Team Mom. At Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church Betty was a constant figure in women’s groups and church-wide dinners.
Funeral arrangements are being managed by the Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Homes with all funeral events being held at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1655 Peel Avenue, Orlando, 32806, Saturday, October 5, 2019 with a 1:00 p.m. visitation & 2:00 p.m. service. Betty always told her family that she loved flowers at every occasion, so the family requests that in lieu of donations in her name, flowers be given to her honoron October 5th.
