We are here to celebrate the amazing life of Amos William “Bill” Harris. He was an adored husband, son, brother, grandfather and friend to all lives he touched. Bill passed away at the age of 91 on September 8th, 2023.
Bill was born in Gallatin, TN on June 6th, 1932. He was son to Frank Edward and Gradie Bell and brother to Louise, Jack & Mack. Bill was very close with his siblings. Louise and Bill spent many evenings talking on the telephone chatting about their day.
While in the United States Air Force Bill met Neta Jo who was a college student in Oklahoma. The two married on August 5th,1951. Their love story lasted 71 years.
Bill retired from the Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1972. The military took Bill and Jo to many places including Anchorage, AK where their daughter Diane was born, Colorado Springs, CO where their son Jack was born, and Japan where the family had many beautiful memories together.
Bill became a real estate agent and then a real estate broker when the family moved to Orlando, Florida. He purchased Mannix Realty and he also started a very successful property management business, Mannix Management where they handled over 400 rentals. He met so many wonderful people during those years and maintained friendships with them even after retirement.
Bill enjoyed traveling with his family, especially to the Smokey Mountains. He also loved western movies and spending time with his family at his condo in Daytona Beach. Bill was also a member of the Mokanna Masonic Lodge No. 329 for many years. Most of all Bill loved his family and friends and he enjoyed sitting down and chatting with you. There would always be a story of old times or his Grandkids. There was a smile on his face every time he saw them.
Bill was a devoted father to Diane and Jack, respected grandfather of Frank, Samuel, Kimberly, and Gregory. He was also a proud great grandfather to Gavin, Finley and Micah. He always required a hug when he saw one of them.
He will be dearly missed and will forever be in our hearts. He was predeceased by his wife, Jo, two brothers, Jack and Mack and his son, Jack. He leaves his sister Louise, his daughter Diane, four Grandchildren, and three Great-Grandchildren.
