Walter "Billy" Pierce

Walter W. “Billy” Pierce beloved husband of 65 years to Gloria(nee McCreadie). Loving father of William Pierce, Patricia(the late Jerry) Crowley and Robert(Jeanette) Pierce. Loving grandfather of Erin(Jeff) Miller, Jaclyn Crowley(fiancé Ryan Stachorek), Zachary Pierce(fiancé Lauren Bogart), William Crowley and Sean Pierce. Cherished great-grandfather of Michaela Miller. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Billy played 18 major league baseball seasons spanning from 1945-1964. Billy was not only a legend on the baseball field but he was a legend off the field devoting so much of his time serving as a committee member of Chicago Baseball Cancer Charities for 46 years, and acting president of the CBCC for over 20 years. He was a longtime parishioner of Evergreen Park Presbyterian Church, Medinah Shrine (Athletic Committee), Scottish Rite Valley of Chicago and a 33rd Degree Mason of Evergreen Park Lodge. He worked for Continental Envelope for over 25 years. Billy was a kind-hearted and thoughtful man and was most of all a devoted family man that loved his family. He will be missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W. 103rd Street, Oak Lawn, IL 60453. A private funeral service for family and close friends will be held Wednesday at Evergreen Park Presbyterian Church, 8859 S. Francisco Avenue, Evergreen Park, IL 60805. Entombment: Chapel Hill Gardens South Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in memoriam of Bill Pierce’s name to the Chicago Baseball Cancer Charities P.O. Box 2865 Glenview, IL 60025 would be greatly appreciated.
