Dolores M. Ramsey, devoted mother of Paula A. Ramsey, Mark J. (Barbara) Ramsey, George L. (the late Debbie) Ramsey and Gary R. Ramsey. Loving grandmother to Mark J. (Amy Locsmandy) Ramsey, Nicole (Robert) Thompson, Matthew (Samantha Laura Jeanne) Ramsey, Adam (Danielle) Ramsey and Jade Ramsey. Great-grandmother to Joshua M. Ramsey. Sister to Raymond (the late Vera) Rostan, Rosemary (Phillip) Lovetere, Joan (Anthony) Loquercio and the late Louis (Carole) Rostan, Anne (Michael) Polacek, Frank Rostan and Genevieve Rostan; Treasured aunt and great aunt to many amazing people! Although her name comes from the Spanish word for sorrows and is often used in reference to the sorrows of the Virgin Mary, Dolores or Lori as she was best known, spent her life always making the best of everything that came her way. She wore many hats throughout her life and like a chameleon could reinvent herself at a moment’s notice. From manager of a barbeque house on the south side of Chicago where she was referred to as the chief, to a popular bar called The Doghouse where she was the boss, nothing stopped her immense fortitude to merrily plow through life. She could make you feel like a million or a miser in one felt swoop and was never one to mince words. Through all of it, she loved and adored her children and her grandchildren with a ferocity that could at times make a mother lion look tame. She had high aspirations and although they were out her reach, she never gave up trying. In short, she lived a long and hearty life and like so many of us, she experienced all the “slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.” Unfortunately, her deepest regret was that she never hit the jackpot for the lottery. (Her fondest dream) BUT who knows, for as Hamlet states “in that sleep of death, what dreams may come!” Funeral Service will be at 10 AM on Saturday, May 18th, at Orland Funeral Home, 9900 West 143rd Street, Orland Park, Illinois 60462. Interment Good Shepherd Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 PM on Friday, May 17th, also at the Funeral Home.
