Robert (Bob) Shackelford, Jr, 89, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 surrounded by his children. He was born on October 22, 1931 in Danville, KY. He is preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife, Patricia (Pat) G. Shackelford. He is survived by his three children; Mike Shackelford (Stephanie), Jerry Shackelford (Karen), and Lori Ricketts (David); seven grandchildren; Krisha Woodburn (Tracy), Travis Hodge (Amy), Michael Shackelford, Hayley Zapcic (Tony), Erica Shackelford, Zachary Ricketts (Jessica), and Tracy Shackelford (Sarah); 13 great grandchildren a sister; Nancy Followell of Covington, KY, and the adopted son of the Shack Family, Greg Austin (Chico) of Lexington, KY.
Bob started his career in the lumber business in Danville, Ky. at Boyle Lumber and then Farmer Supply Companies and in 1966 moved his family to Lexington, Ky. where he work for Central Kentucky Supply (CKS) as well as Lexington Building Supply (LBS) for over 30 years in outside sales until he retired and then he and Pat moved to Jacksonville, FL to be with their children.
He was a diehard Kentucky Wildcats fan and especially for “The Round Ball”. “If we’re playing our game no one will beat us” was the faith he had in his Cats. He somehow was able to instill that love and devotion for ‘Big Blue’ not only to his wife and kids, but grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He played and then coached men softball for over 15 years.
There is not a service planned at this time, but the family will have A Celebration of life later.
