Robert William Gorey, Sr., 74 years old of Orange Park, FL passed away on December 22, 2021. He was born in Columbus, Ohio to the late Robert and Marjorie Gorey. He retired as an Ordnance man from the US Navy after serving 21 years.
First and for most he was a man that loved his family. They always came first. He always stayed involved. I can't think of a game whether it be softball, baseball, basketball or cheering at that his kids or grandkids participated in that he missed. His grandkids and great grandkids were the light of his life.
He stayed involved in the community by coaching t-ball for 20 years. Robert enjoyed gathering with family and friends eating out. In fact most places he ate the staff became his family of friends. He loved to go fishing whether it be from the banks or boat. It didn't matter what he caught. He just enjoyed being outside. He loved watching football, Ohio State was his team and was a huge die hard fan.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Becky Millette; sister, Linda Gorey; and brother, Donnie Gorey, and survived by his loving wife Elizabeth Gorey, his son, Robert "Billy" William Gorey, Jr (Tracy) his daughter Crystal Cormell (Shannon), step daughter Carla Mitchell, step son Matt Olstad (Sara), Grandkids: Joshua Mitchell (Brooke), Brandon Mitchell (Louisa Wong), Faith Mitchell (boyfriend Ryan Williams), Bradley Cormell, Colby Cormell (girlfriend Alivia Williams), Vivian Gorey (boyfriend Mason Cochran), Justin Gorey, Trevor Gorey (Breanna), Hanna Olstad, Myah Olstad, Ingrid Olstad and Kaisa Olstad; great-grandchildren, Naomi Gorey, Lillian Mitchell and Lincoln Mitchell; sister Mona Dupont, brother Kim Gorey, sister Christy Sherrod and a host of extended family and friends.
