I miss you so much papa. Youve been heavy on my mind. I hate that the longer time passes, it feels the more the memories feel so distant. I miss fishing with you. You sitting and playing whatever video game laughing with you. I was your buddy. You loved me the moment I was born. And you made sure not just nanny but me and my mom were always taken care of. Even now, youre able to take care of nanny in your death. And that means the world to you I know up there in heaven looking down. Love you always.

I miss you Bob. I thank you so much for making me feel like part of your family. Who's going to tell me how pretty my eyes are? Lol. I enjoyed sitting and talking with you. I only knew you for a short time but I'll remember you always. I want to know that anytime I'm on a ship and they have escargot, I'm going to order it and think of you.!Lol. If it wasn't for you, I never would've tried snails. Keep an eye out because I'll hold one up and say  Bob, this slug is for you!!  I love you.

My DEEPEST condolences to the Burnell family.  The ASW community and Navy family has lost a GREAT man. He trained men and women and made the fleet better!  After retiring he passed his knowledge further with training the guy/gals at WING-11!  Thank You for sharing him!!!!

My Deepest Condolences to Patsy and the Burnell Family. I had the distinct honor and pleasure of working with Bob twice, Commander Patrol Wing-11 1990-1993 and at the Advanced Maritime Projects Office 1996-1999.  During both tours my desk was right next to Bob's so I was able to see him doing what he loved best everyday!  Bob had forgotten more about acoustic analysis than I ever would know and I learned so much from him and he made me a better Analyst.  I will forever miss his wit, humor and the times we went fishing on his bass boat.  God Bless You Bob.

Patsy, Know that the fleet has the greatest respect for the work Bob has done over the decades.  Many of us have been briefed on the latest acoustic intelligence and he made significant impacts on our readiness and esprit de corps.  Bob was an icon in the field and will be greatly missed...true geniuses of his caliber are quite rare.  Know that you were significant in his successes.

It is not always how long you know someone that makes them special.
In the evenings, I would walk my dog in our neighborhood, and inevitably, my dog and Bob's dog would see each other and hang out.. and so Bob and I would do the same. We would talk about the craziness of it all or what the latest challenge was with this or that. He was easy to listen to, and a good listener. It would usually end up with us agreeing on the stupidity of this or that, and most of the time we would chuckle and smile.
I miss my friend, and my heart goes out to Patsy and family.
I will still take the evening walk, but it will missing my favorite thing... Bob.

So very sorry to hear that Bob has passed on. I know the angels have surrounded him and now his home is in heaven. Our Prayers for you Patsy and the family.

My friends, I will cherish the memories we made together on the 3 cruises we shared and the wonderful hospitality as a guest in your home. It is said that when a loved one passes that they are in a better place now however I believe that place is even better now that Bob is there. Rest In Peace my friend. Until we meet again.
