Born in Jacksonville, FL Richard attended and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School, Jacksonville, Fl., he enlisted in the Air Force and served four years during the Korean Conflict. Upon discharge from the Air Force, Richard trained as a Firefighter for the City of Jacksonville, serving as a Firefighter and Paramedic (EMT) for over 32 years before retiring. A superior athlete, he played fast ball for the Fire Department Leagues and several organized church leagues.
Richard is predeceased by his former wife Margie Miller. Parents: Ada Alberta (Tucker) and Charles Andrew Miller; and three sisters Evelyn, Sybil and Louise "Bootsie".
He is survived by his wife of twelve years Dianne (Griffis) Miller. Children: Dale Miller, Jamie (April) Rissel and Wanda (Mark) Durocher. Four Grandchildren: Ross Wilson, Shannon (Jeremy) Plemons, Jordyn Durocher and Hadley Rissel. Two Great-grandchildren, Brinley Plemons and Leighton Plemons. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Richard will be held Monday, February 20, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Rivermead Funeral Home, 127 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park, FL 32073.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Hibernia Baptist Church, 7100 US 17 S, Fleming Island, FL 32003. Followed by a reception at the church.
Committal services (Graveside) will be Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
