Raymond Lee Huston, 69, of Jacksonville, FL, died on Friday, May 14, 2021. Raymond was born in Jacksonville, Florida on June 4, 1951 to Cleon Howard Huston and Mary Agnes Huston. He is predeceased by his two parents and brother, John Howard Huston. Raised in Jacksonville, he graduated from St. Paul’s Riverside, Bishop Kenny High School and attended Florida State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
Raymond served in the U.S. Army, 1st Cavalry Division, during the Vietnam War for two years.
Raymond was a long-time resident of Tallahassee, opening the two franchise locations of The Loop Restaurant, Huston’s Cafe and Redican’s Pub. His love for the hospitality industry also brought him to Aramark at FSU and Sodexo at Florida Gulf Coast U.
An avid lover of golf, Raymond was on the Junior PGA Tour, played golf for FSU, and was a member of Timuquana Country Club and Golden Eagle Country Club. He loved playing golf and all his cherished friends along the way.
Raymond was also a lover of music and movies. He spent many a night being a well liked DJ at Zachary’s and also spun music at Studio 54, NYC, in the 1970’s. He taught his children to appreciate the classics - The Beatles, Motown, Disco and R&B and loved his movie nights with his kids watching favorites like Rudy, Star Wars and Tora! Tora! Tora!.
He loved his kids and his family. He was loved by so many people of all walks of life. And we will all miss his special way, his laughter, the flowers he would always bring with him and the way he was always dressed with style.
He is survived by his brother, Michael (Mary) Huston, sister, Mary Louise Duke, both of Jacksonville; Susan (Borland) Huston, sister-in-law; daughter, Kaley Huston; son, Raymond Huston, Jr. and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
