Patrick (Pat) Allen Seaburn, 62, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away Saturday, the 18th of February in St. Vincent's Hospital after an extended illness. At the time of his passing, Pat was surrounded by family.
Pat was born in Mercer, Pennsylvania on 8 September, 1960, later moving to Jacksonville, Florida and then Seale, Alabama. After graduating from Chavala High School in Seale, he joined the U.S. Navy as a Boatswain's Mate which took him to San Diego, California, where he lived while on shore duty. When on sea duty, Pat worked on the flight deck aboard the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk, operating and maintaining the aircraft carrier's arresting gear, one of the most challenging and dangerous jobs in the Navy. He was very well-suited to this position, being courageous and having an aptitude for mechanics. Proud of his time in the Navy, Pat was happy to have had the opportunity to serve his country.
While in California, Pat married and started a family. After completing his Naval service and receiving an honorable discharge, he returned to Jacksonville to be closer to his mother, brothers, nieces, and nephews.
Pat had many interests and passions, but his children were always the center of his universe. When he wasn't working, Pat was spending time with his family. Pat also loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, canoeing, and fishing. He also sincerely cared for others, being extraordinarily kind and supporting of not only his own family but coworkers and even acquaintances, always willing to help someone in need.
In addition to caring for others, Pat was a great believer in higher education and passed this on to his children. He completed many college courses in computer and information systems and later, an Associate in Science in Surgical Services degree at Florida State College at Jacksonville. After completing his A.S. degree, Pat put his knowledge to work at Ascension St. Vincent's Hospital in Clay County, FL where he was employed until becoming ill.
Pat was preceded in death by his father Warren Sylvester Seaburn. He is survived by his mother Linda Seaburn Cooley, children Adam Seaburn, Rachel (Daniel) Trotter, and Melissa Seaburn, brothers Scott (Nancy) Seaburn, Michael (Beatriz) Seaburn, and Russell (Cynthia) Seaburn, granddaughter Scarlett Trotter, nephew Adam (Monique) Madrid, nieces Vanessa (Jesse) Del Pilar, Corina (Samuel) Farmer and Sachi (Michael) Lord, and great-nieces and great-nephews Gabriela and Jason Del Pilar and Luca and Kira Lord.
Pat's wishes were to be cremated, which will be handled by Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home. A ceremony where his remains will be interred will be held at the National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida on Friday, 10 March, 2023 at 10:30 a.m.
