He joined the Marine Corp in 1980 and served tours in Beirut and Grenada. He was awarded the Rifle Badge Expert M-16, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (3rd aware), Navy Unit Commendation (2nd award), Humanitarian Service Medal, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon. He was proud to be a Marine and of his service to our country.
He worked for the DOT for 27 years; he worked at Jacksonville Maintenance Ellis Road and South Side Yard, Bridge Maintenance and Jacksonville Construction. Over the years, his duties included Permits Inspector, Contracts Manager, Equipment Operator, Maintenance of Traffic Supervisor, and for almost the last 5 years he was the Construction Coordinator for railroad, LAP, and utilities with the DOT and was awarded the Employee of the Quarter earlier this year.
He and his wife are members of the Filipino Bayanihan Community Group.
He was a faithful and dedicated husband to his wife Lerma, other than work, they were rarely apart from each other. One of his greatest joys was fishing and being out on the water in a boat or kayak. He was a loyal friend and always willing to lend a hand for friends or family. He loved to joke around and play jokes on friends and family. He has touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Brenda Joyce Davis and James D Lane Jr. Ken is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lerma Lane; his aunts: Phyllis Pike (Robert) and Rose Rose; his uncles: Buford Rose (Carrie) and Ricky Rose (Brenda); his stepfather, Richard Davis Sr. (Tammie); his stepmother, Joyce Lane; his sisters: Danna Lips (Claude), Crystal Wolford (Shawn), Shelley Lane, Michele Rouselle (Roland) and Kimberly Dray (Kelly); his brothers: Nick Lane, Richard Davis Jr. (Kimberly) and Shawn Lane; sister’s in law, Doris Bano(Joseph) and Precy Cruz; brother-in-law, Ernie Miranda (Nellie); multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Doctor Cecilia Scheuerman and Ungco family.
At HARDAGE-GIDDENS RIVERMEAD FUNERAL HOME located at 127 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park, Florida on Friday 8/16 there will be viewing from 5p-6p for the family and 6p-8p for friends followed by Funeral Services on Saturday 8/17 at 10am.
Military Funeral Honors will be provided at Jacksonville National Cemetery on Lannie Rd on Friday September 27th at 12:30pm where his ashes will be laid to rest.
