Joseph Julius Fischl Jr., 78, Passed away September 2, 2017. He was born January 18, 1939 in New York City, New York. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; two daughters, Mrs. Gwendolyn Folsom (Chris) of Orange Park, Florida, Mrs. Lynda Danley (lee) of Atlanta, Georgia; a granddaughter, Kristina Marie.
Joe graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School in January 1957. He enlisted in the US Navy after graduation also in 1957. He received a Bachelor of Marine Science from the Marine Maritime Academy in July 1960. Joe received two additional Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Cincinnati in 1978 and 1980 respectively. Joe was a devoted Lutheran throughout his life and served as a member and elder for several Lutheran churches, most recently Hope Lutheran Church in Jacksonville, Florida. Joe retired from the U.S. Navy as Captain in March of 1990 after 34 years of dedicated service. Joe enjoyed hunting and fishing in Texas with his extended family and was an avid supporter of the Vietnam Veterans Association.
A funeral service will be held 10 AM Thursday September 7, 2017 at HARDAGE-GIDDENS RIVERMEAD FUNERAL HOME, 127 Blanding Blvd. Orange Park, FL 32073.
