Jasper Hawthorne Roper, Jr.,(AWC, RET, US Navy) age 85, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023. Jasper was born in New York, New York on February 24, 1938 to Virginia Adeline (Pascal) and Jasper Hawthorne Roper, Sr.
Preceded in death by his son: Guy Roper and his parents Virginia and Jasper Roper, Sr.
Mr. Roper is survived by his wife of 62 years, Maxie (Russ) Roper. Daughter, Joey (Roper) Arlette. Grandsons: Forest Pogorel, Ocean Pogorel and Jasper David Roper.
AWC Jasper Roper retired from the United States Navy after 27 years of service, and began a new career with Naval Air Station Jacksonville (NAS JAX) as a civil servant for 13 years.
A graveside service with Navy Honors will be held Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218, Lane # 2. Followed by a reception at True Life Church, 2221 County Road 220, Middleburg, FL 32068.
